Which Dependent Territories have you visited?

Postby arkangel » 27 Feb 2013 10:41

When I posted a series of polls recently entitled: "Which countries have you visited?" there was some dissatisfaction regarding the definition of 'country' I used. This poll is provided in order to tie up the loose ends!

If I may borrow from Wikipedia... "A dependent territory, dependent area or dependency is a territory that does not possess full political independence or sovereignty as a sovereign state yet remains politically outside of the controlling state's integral area."

The options include every such dependency except those that are uninhabited or only used as military bases. Some of the dependencies in this poll are also included in the others, while many are new entries. :D

Which Dependent Territories have you visited?

Postby CGBOWLER » 27 Feb 2013 11:01

Visited four of these, Gibraltar and the IOM many times, Guernsey twice and Tortola,BVI once.

First visit to Gibraltar it was 40 degrees - the apes were all hiding in the shade, saw none. :(
Second visit (by car), had to buy a couple of umbrellas immediately - apes all sheltering somewhere, saw none. :(
Third time, lucky. :D

Just being really pedantic ,but Guadalope, Martinique, Reunion and French Guiana and more recently Mayotte are full fledged departments of France, In essence they are France , and are not dependancies at all

Managed to tick 12
Skiing comes 1st; Cruising a close 2nd

Absolutely Pete.

The problem was that the topic title: 'Which Dependent Territories and Overseas Departments have you visited?' wouldn't fit. So I abbreviated it. :D
