And that's it for this year!

And that's it for this year!

We've just booked two more holidays for 2019. :D

For early June, we've booked an amazing fairytale cottage near Dolgellau in North Wales. This holiday is for the two of us and we'd like to continue where we left off on our week near Mount Snowdon in the autumn. We'd hoped to climb Cadair Idris during the week, but we realised it was just too far from where we were staying. It's very close to this little castle though! :D

Then, in the first week of the school summer holidays, we're taking the family (two daughters, two husbands and three grandchildren) to a considerably bigger cottage near Matlock in the Peak District. For us, this will be part family time and part walking holiday. I'm hoping we'll do a bit of the Pennine Way - at least as far as Kinder Scout anyway...

Both areas are favourites of mine. We did a couple of cottage holidays several years ago based in Eyam and toring/exploring the Peak District. I also did an "adventure" course many moons ago based in the Peak district and this involved Kinder Scout and hiking in direweather - and losing boots in the mud!

We also did one cottage holiday based near dolgellau and explored the Snowdon mountain railway - and few other little railways round that area.

Looks lovely, will look forward to how you get on during your stay. The little Castle looks good, too.

I spoke too soon when I said that's it for this year. :D

Although Fred has used up all of her holiday days, she realised that it would still be possible for us to have a four-day break over Easter. So yesterday we booked a cottage...

The North Downs Way is about 153 miles long and runs from Farnham in Surrey to Dover in Kent. I've walked all of the Kent section, but none of the 40-or-so miles that are in Surrey - that part is too far away for a day's walking!

So we looked for accommodation in Surrey that will allow us to do some of their bit of the North Downs Way, and we found a cottage in the ideal location. :D

The cottage is near Westcott and is just a few hundred yards from the North Downs Way - and bang in the middle of the part we've not walked yet. Perfect!
