I've enjoyed following you around some islands which we have visited many times and your photos brought back memories of some happy times.

That is one good thing about Thomson, they don't kick you off the ship at silly o clock and make you wait all day for your flight - they allow you stay on board or do your own thing until the coach is ready to take you to the airport about 2,5 hours before your flight departs.

I won't bore you with the details, but I posted that from the departure lounge at the airport and was having tremendous difficulty getting a stable connection. But since we had nothing else to do for a couple of hours I persevered and using a different logon was just something I tried!

I had hoped to post this photo too... :D

(Me in the sea.)

Too often in the past we've hung around the ship wasting time before leaving for the airport. This time we were determined to go to a beach - and we were very pleased we did. There was hardly anyone at the beach (being both early and a bank holiday) and we had a truly wonderful couple of hours there.

You're absolutely right about Thomson. They looked after our hand luggage and loaned us beach towels, and they gave us the use of a cabin to shower and change in. All very civilised!

Oh, and by the way, we arrived home at about 7.30 this morning.

Thanks Geoff. I have to say that I'm really looking forward to writing the review because we loved (almost) everything about this cruise - and Discovery quickly became our favourite ship, and by a long way at that!

That's an endorsement. Looking forward to reading why? Also looking forward to hearing about the bits that left you only 'almost' loving it. There are always niggles -unless you sail Cunard - 'Perfection of the Seas'.

I can agree with you here Dave, we loved almost everything about the ship, it was just the casino that was a disappointment to us, but a lot of people wouldn't be bothered about that.
We would try Discovery 2 also, just wish they had come up a more interesting name!

I enjoyed reading how much you enjoyed your cruise. It sounds to have been near perfect. The ship sounds very tempting.

I added 'almost' because it didn't begin well. As I mentioned in my blog, we arrived at our cabin to find that it had been prepared for us AND another couple. The sofa had been made up into a second double bed and there were two sets of the usual documents, welcome letter and excursion tickets. We got it sorted to our satisfaction but it wasn't a great start to the cruise. And it was completely perfect from then on. :D

Thanks to all those who commented - your contributions are greatly appreciated and you've made it all worth doing!
