I don't know if you noticed, but the video shows something that photos don't show - the blue panels which line the upper part of the atrium pulse. The effect is subtle but impressive (in my humble opinion!). :D

Initially, we weren't too sure about the itinerary but it turned out really well. We got to see a lot more of Barcelona and Rome than we'd seen on our one previous visit to each and the other ports of call were new to us. Marseille and Palma were both much more interesting than we'd expected, and only La Spezia was disappointing (but it was Christmas Day!).

We still have enough left 'to do' both in Barcelona (the whole Montjuc area for instance), Rome (e.g. Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel and / or Borghese) and Marseille the entire city as the last time we went to Aix). After 3 visits to Palma de Mallorca - we may struggle to find something new to do! We have not been to La Spezia but have been to Livorno - Diadema calls to La Spezia because it is too large to dock in Livorno.

I did not notice the blue panels pulsing but I did wonder if they always shone blue or did they change the colour from time to time!

A final photo for the blog. It's not easy to make out, but here's Diadema and neoClassica in Savona. :D

Dave's Digital Postcards from the Western Med on Costa Diadema

Postby Mungo » 27 Dec 2015 10:17

My hubby is self employed with Christmas Eve always a busy day so starting a cruise on Christmas Day would be a great option!

My New Year cruise visits Zeebrugge and Amsterdam. 2 ports I've been to many times and no doubt will visit numerous times again. I actually enjoy revisiting places, always somewhere new to explore or rediscover. What we will do this time I have no idea!

No doubt the next year will fly by Dave and you'll soon be enjoying another festive cruise! :D

For me of course and I think I made that abundantly clear!

I would at least not have to disembark until Dec 27th and preferable the 28th so I would not have to pack on the evening of St Stephen's Day. So ideally for me a 7 day Christmas cruise would embark on the 21st - 23rd and disembark on the 28th - 30th with Christmas Day being a sea day.
