The Chaplain's name was Ross who was on the ship with his Mum. We have net him before on Boudicca back in 2012.
I didn't come across a Wendy though.

JollyJill & Plunky's Around Africa & Indian Ocean cruise on Boudicca

Postby JollyJill » 14 Apr 2016 09:18

Having been home for over 3 weeks, we have finally sorted our photos into files. P has also formulated a slide show for my kids and our friends, who although they want to see some pics of Africa & the islands in the Indian Ocean, would not want to see thousands of them.

We managed to get it down to about 420 which takes 30 mins to show. Don't panic though, I am not going to show it on here because most of them you have already seen. ;)

However, I did come across a couple of things that may be of interest.

Did I mention that Fred have opened a grill restaurant on deck 6? It's al fresco and can be used for breakfast or lunch without charge. Lunch though consists of burgers and other fast food. I stayed well clear because I hate the smell of cooking oil which often wafted into the Neptune Lounge if people opened the door during cooking times.
Dinner however was billed as something special............

I don't think I ever saw many people use The Grill for dinner and in fact, there had to be at least 4 people book or they didn't open it.

Most people we spoke to couldn't see the point in paying an extra £20pp for dinner when the food in the MDR was so good. One of our table mates had spoken to someone who booked it for a wedding anniversary but said it was not worth the extra cost. Consequently, The Grill was rarely open in the evening.

The other pic I thought might interest/amuse you was when we were both quarantined in our cabin for 24 hours during a Norovirus red alert.

Image

In the event, the medics declared that P didn't have Norovirus and so our quarantine was short lived.

The other thing that I may have forgotten to mention was a rumour we heard about the future of hosted Bridge on Fred ships in the future.

The rumour was that as the Bridge sessions take place every sea day and is free, there is nothing in it for Fred. What I find difficult to believe however, was the added rumour that the v=card room would be replaced by a small casino with slot machines.
Now given that the Roulette and Black Jack tables were opened every day and rarely if ever used, I can't imagine that to change the use of the card room is good thinking.

In the evening, the card room was often full of people playing either cards or board games.

Let's hope it is just a rumour.

I know that cruise lines are always looking at ways to generate more on board spend but so far, the Coffee Bar in the library which also sells chocolates at 65p each and The Grill which is a non starter have not been a huge success.

On Sunday, we played host to some new friends that we made on Boudicca. One of the chaps is a very keen photographer and prints his work onto canvas.

Imagine my surprise when our friends arrived with a canvas under his arm which was a present for me.

I was so overcome with both the subject and the quality of the photograph that it brought tears to my eyes.

It will take pride of place on the wall in our new lounge when we move.
