Thanks for all the comments re the elephant on canvas. Yes, I do consider myself very lucky to have made yet made such generous and thoughtful friends. :)

I just LOVE the canvas and can't stop looking at it. :)

Stunning picture Jill. How kind of your friends. What a lovely reminder of your cruise and time in Africa.

I know that cruise lines are always looking at ways to generate more on board spend
.

On our recent Oriana cruise, maybe because it was full of cruisers who enjoy long cruises and are no longer eager to try alternative dining venues, or have been disillusioned in the past, we found that Sindhu was empty most evenings. Neither did they offer a lunchtime menu on sea days as we have enjoyed on Azura.

On the other hand, the Beach House was always oversubscribed, having to book well in advance to secure a table, even if it was, 'The Conservatory with a twist', BUT with excellent food and good service. Our meals in Sindhu were hurried, in and out in just an hour and a half,(with all the little extras that were served before our starter and main course we were almost full before we had our main), whereas in the Beach house we had leisurely meals of two and a half hours.

I can foresee such a large space as Sindhu on Oriana, which may not bring in enough revenue, soon being replaced with something that does enhance profits. Many passengers were still remembering Oriana and Arcadian Rhodes with fond memories of great food and exceptional service.
