And here we are in Antigua. :-)

The early rain is clearing and we're docked between Jewel of the Seas and Silver Wind:

This morning we're doing an excursion called Antigua by Sea. It's a catamaran trip with snorkeling and beach stops. Let's hope for better luck than yesterday. ;-)

We're still enjoying Discovery. In just a couple of days she's become my favourite ship and our love of cruising has been reawakened...

Occasional updates from our Caribbean Christmas on TUI Discovery

Postby Trace » 28 Dec 2016 15:11

I am really enjoying your updates Dave, and so pleased you love the ship as much as we did, TUI Discovery is one of my favourites for sure. We loved the show lounge, really comfy and spacious.
The only thing we were disappointed in was the smallness of the casino, but that won't bother a lot of people, we just always enjoy a little flutter in the casino at the end of the evening, and this was the least favourite of any we have been to on a ship.
Your cabin looks lovely, we were happy with our balcony cabin too, tho' it was nothing like as impressive as yours. :)

Occasional updates from our Caribbean Christmas on TUI Discovery

By the way Dave... If you come across one of the entertainments team called Corrine... Lovely girl from Harrogate, blonde, she joined us one one of the afternoon quizzes and had just joined the ship....
Also.., is Paul Fisher still the cruise director? His parents live a couple of villages away from us, about 8 miles, we met them on our cruise, lovely people.

Wow! What a fantastic day!

Our six-hour excursion consisted of a complete circumnavigation of Antigua on a very fast boat called Excellence, with a two-hour stop at a lovely beach on Green Island (plus a couple of other beach stops). On Green Island, we sunbathed and snorkeled and had lunch.

We had about 30 minutes of extremely rough Atlantic seas before reaching the island with the boat lurching and crashing over huge waves. It was an exciting and fun experience but my phone got soaked and stopped working so until Fred gives me all of hers I haven't got many photos to post.

Nice ship!

Hi Trace

Sorry but I don't know who the cruise director is. I agree with you about the show lounge - it's extremely comfortable and well-designed and is probably the best we've ever seen. The shows have been brilliant too - except for the comedian, that is.

Today we're in St Maarten, sandwiched between Celebrity Eclipse and Beehive of the Seas. ;-)

We're just going to laze this morning and do a beach transfer this afternoon. :-)

You didn't need to go all the way to the Caribbean to get views like this Dave, we have them in London and most British inner city areas!

I am really enjoying your posts and sorry that your phone was drowned. Thanks for taking the time and trouble to post and I am particularly pleased that the 'TUI Discovery' has restarted your interest in cruising.

I am enjoying these updates too. Exactly what the forum needs at this time.

BTW I love the term 'Beehive of the Seas' - so apt!
