Dave wrote:Good morning from Roseau in Dominica. Today we're doing an excursion called Indian River Row Boat and Beach. Sounds good! :-)

I can see a ship in the distance called Insignia. Is she Oceania?

Yes Insignia is an Oceania ship.

Dominica is our favourite Carribbean Island. As a snorkeller, I expected you to visit Champagne pools - maybe that's the beach you are heading for.

What a fabulous excursion... again. (Tom, we did the Champagne Snorkel the last time we were in Dominica. :-))

There were basically three parts to the day. An hour's drive to the other end of the island was fascinating and the driver was really friendly and interesting.

Then we were rowed up the Indian River through the rainforest. It poured with rain for much of the time, which seemed appropriate. We enjoyed rum punches before returning.

(Does anyone recognise this shack?)

Then we were driven to an excellent black sand beach where I had another rum punch. The water was perfect, but I didn't see any fish. We had to stop for a while on the way to the beach while a fallen tree was cleared from the road!

I dont recognise the shack but I do love it. because you are in Dominica, can I assume it is connected to Pirates of the Caribbean?

Correct. I gather it was featured in the second PotC film - it's the Witch's Hut. :-)

And here we are back in Barbados. We don't need to leave for the airport until after lunch so we're heading for a nearby beach after breakfast. :-)

We certainly made the most of our final morning in Barbados, before heading for the airport after lunch. :-)

Why is Arkangel posting? Where's Dave?
That is one good thing about Thomson, they don't kick you off the ship at silly o clock and make you wait all day for your flight - they allow you stay on board or do your own thing until the coach is ready to take you to the airport about 2,5 hours before your flight departs.
