We usually use the buffet restaurant for all our meals but this evening we ate at Nonna's Italian Restaurant. It was excellent, and just like a pay-extra speciality restaurant except we didn't pay extra. Nice one!

We're in Grenada tomorrow and we're going on a hike!

Like St Lucia, Grenada is mountainous and covered in lush rain forest. We visited in 2010 and did a brilliant kayaking excursion but saw little of the island. Today's trip was very different!

Image

Our minibus took us to a forest reserve in the centre of the island - 2000ft up. Then we walked a forest trail to the Seven Sisters waterfalls. Near the start, our guide pointed out lots of tropical fruit and spice trees.

At the falls we had time to swim (we passed!) and watch some people jump into each pool from scary heights!

Image

The 'hike' was very short at a little over 2 miles, but the going was surprisingly tough (muddy, slippery and steep) for a ship's tour and (as usually happens) there were a few in the group who really weren't up to it.

When we got back to the ship, we were greeted by partying staff who cheered us on board...

I love it when the crew welcome everyone back on board, may be a bit cheesy but it's part of the cruising experience!

Great photos. I think Granada was my favourite Island. Happy holidays.

We're just arriving in Kralendijk, Bonaire. This is our first visit and it looks amazing!

We'll be spending the afternoon on nearby Klein Island. :-)

We had a fantastic time on 'Little Bonaire' this afternoon. A water taxi took us straight from the pier to the island, which is an uninhabited nature reserve about 20 minutes away by boat. The snorkelling is amazing and I took dozens of photos of fish with my ageing underwater camera.

There was lots of space so choosing a shaded spot was easy:

A water taxi - the return fare was $20pp. We paid TUI £20pp and drinks were included. :-)

It was getting dark but we had a bit of time to look around Kralendijk before dinner:

To the Caribbean on Marella Explorer 2

Looks a gorgeous place - I've done quite a few Caribbean cruises, but unfortunately that wasn't one of the ports of call! :D

Today we're in...

We were supposed to be doing another beach transfer by boat today, but it was cancelled at short notice. Having done two beaches and with two still to come we decided to spend the time in wonderful Willemstad instead. :-)

We were here in 2009 on our world cruise so it was great to reminisce...ImageImage

A few photos from Willemstad...

The ship. Behind us is Explorer of the Seas. The only other big cruise ship we've seen so far was Celebrity Silhouette. This seems a relatively ship-free part of the Caribbean - perhaps because we're a long way from Miami...

Image

A nice welcome!
