Website for disiputed travel insurance claims

Postby Gillzajoker » 13 Jan 2018 11:50

I had to cancel my cruise in Oct. due to illness. Since then I have been trying to pursue a claim, which has been refused, they say due to a 'pre-existing condition'. Yet my pre-existing condition was declared, and I paid extra premiums to have it covered. Plus until this 'incident' there had been no change in my condition for 24 months (indeed,6 years). Someone recently posted on a Forum - hopefully this one - a website for disputed travel insurance claims. Can anyone help, please?

My travel insurance is arranged through my bank. For disputes in the UK, complaints should be addressed to The Financial Ombudsman Service :-

The Financial Ombudsman Service
Exchange Tower
London
E14 9SR

Tel: 0300 123 9123 or 0800 023 4567

Fax: 02079641001

Email: complaint.info@financial-ombudsman.org.uk

Website: www.financial-ombudsman.org.uk

However, if the insurance was arranged through an overseas insurer, this probably will not be applicable.

I hope this is useful. Good luck Gill.

Thanks very much, Geoff. The Insurers ARE a Spanish company but underwritten by Lloyds of London. My claim was farmed out to some company whose sole aim in life is to refute everything and use any excuse to wriggle out of paying!

Thanks, Marie. My insurance agent is taking this up with the actual insurers, and he confirms that my
medical condition WAS covered, so hopefully common sense will prevail! But will pursue it to the bitter end! :D

Yes, yes, yes! After the intervention of my insurance agent in confirming with the actual insurance company that my pre-existing condition was declared and covered, I have just received an email from the 'lets trying and screw you out of what's rightfully yours' claim company that my claim will be settled in full, and the money should be in the bank within a week. Justice prevails!!!! :D :D :D

Well done Gill, it makes my blood boil when these companies try and wriggle out of their obligations. Why do they think we pay them the money?

Excellent news Gill. Just goes to show you need to stand your ground when you know you are right but thank goodness you had an insurance agent to back you up.
