Another walk through time: Goudhurst in Kent

For this weekend's walk we returned to Cranbrook in Kent for another walk featured on the Explore Kent website - A Walk Through Time: Goudhurst Walk. Cranbrook is a great place to start any walk because it's situated in the very heart of Kent's most amazing (and very upmarket) countryside, and there's a huge free car park. It's a 45 minute drive for us to get there, but it's definitely worth it.

The route follows the High Weald Landscape Trail to Goudhurst (an extremely well way-marked trail), and then returns to Cranbrook by footpaths. The published walk was very easy to follow and the scenery was varied and always interesting with a nice balance of woods, open fields and small hamlets.

This time, when we passed by a field of blue flowers we knew what the crop was - linseed! :D

Arriving in Goudhurst, almost the first thing we saw was the fantastic village pond.

Then we headed up the main street looking for a coffee shop, and we found a really nice one (just to the left of the silver car):

At the top of the street there's a lovely big church (not shown!) and some typical Tudor houses. But the main reason for posting this photo is to show off Fred's new hiking poles! ;)

Here are the poles again, and a view of the countryside showing why this area is called the High Weald.

And here we are back in Cranbrook, with a windmill at the end of the main street.

Great photos of a lovely walk Dave, thanks for sharing them with us. I like Fred's new hiking poles, but think that you should buy her a new Tilley hat to fully complete the outfit!!!! ;)
