6 million steps in under a year (...and other milestones!)

I spent yesterday looking after one grandson and collecting the other after school. This morning I noticed I was only 25,000 steps away from 12,000,000 steps in under two years. I needed to pay the balance on our TUI Christmas cruise today so, rather than do it over the phone, I walked to their Canterbury shop to pay in person. This afternoon, picking up the grandkids from school took me past 26,000 steps for the day - and my 12,000,000 steps milestone! :D

6 million steps in under a year (...and other milestones!)

I've been recording my walks, steps and related data for a week over two years and on today's walk I passed the 7,000 mile point - as calculated from steps.

The figure isn't particularly accurate and I see it as being far less important than the distance recorded on proper walks (called 'boots on' walks in Country Walking magazine!). But it's a big round number and that's why I'm mentioning it. :D

'Boots on' walks are recorded using GPS, which is pretty accurate. The steps distance is calculated from proper walks plus all the other steps I take in daily life - it's the total number of steps multiplied by the average step length.

Hi Gill

Having no idea what a 'lop' is, I checked Urban Dictionary...

Today I passed 5,000 miles of recorded walks since the start of 2017, which means I've reached my target for 2017-18 with a month-and-a-half to spare! :D

Oooops! Was not aware of that definition! It's an old Yorkshire word for a 'flea' and is used to describe someone who is VERY fit and active. And that was what I intended to convey (honest, m'lud!). :D

And very well done on surpassing your target!

It's been a good week for milestones and targets.

I did 2,541 miles of recorded walks in 2017. On Tuesday I passed that figure with more than a month to go of 2018. And today I've recorded over 250 miles for November, which is my second highest monthly distance in the last 12 months. :D
