Mine was here waiting for me when I got back yesterday from my Saga cruise. Very impressive brochure. It is tomorrow’s reading after catching up with the mountain of mail and washing! Might see you there, hoping for calmer seas than I have just had.

I'm guessing that's a question... ;)

...and since there's been no reply, I'll say something.

As can be seen from the date on the photos, it was a long time ago. But it was a kayak and snorkel excursion, and it was in Antigua, and it was with Fred Olsen.

This was our first hot port of call on the 2009 world cruise on Black Watch. As I recall, we were taken to the kayaks by minibus then we paddled alongside mangroves for quite a while. I remember my wife and I struggled to keep up because only one of us was actually paddling.

We came to a jetty where we transferred to a motor boat and were taken to a snorkelling spot near to a small sandy beach. We snorkelled from the boat then swam to the beach for lots of rum punch.

This was the first snorkelling I'd done since childhood and I loved it. We'd bought snorkelling gear for the cruise and we (I) made extremely good use of it for the rest of that cruise - and many cruises since. :geek:

Just booked on the train in St Kitts. Seem to remember Geoff really enjoying it. Undecided about some of the others.

Unless there is something you really fancy and don't want to risk missing, personally I would wait until I arrived at each port, as you will be indundated with offers from local taxi/minibus drivers/watersports representatives who offer the same and more as the ship but for about half the price!

When we went on the train it was the last one of that day and the train was only pulling two carriages (we only needed one but they couldn't unhitch the second carriage). Consequently the cocktails and other drinks flowed copiously!

Thanks for the photos, looking forward to it. A bit wary of local taxis etc. as I travel alone. Prefer to be taken and know I shall get back safely. Taxis can be a bit pricey for one. Might try the fern garden in Cuba but still thinking.
