Cornwall

Just back from our first visit to Cornwall. We stayed at the Alverton in Truro as our base. In fact this was a reunion of 5 friends who were at school together 50 years ago. On the appointed day we met at Megavissy, a very picturesque harbour and took the ferry to Fowey. Here we had drinks at The Fowey Hotel, a fabulous spot to admire the view. The town is full of small individual shops to browse. Lunch followed at a small restaurant then the return ferry.

I would have liked to visit Cornwall which is the only English county that I have not been to, unless I count a day in Falmouth harbour when I didn't feel well enough to get off the ship. It always looks attractive on TV and in books.

It wasn't meant as a criticism - that's how we spell it in this house as a matter of course!

One of our favourite places in Cornwall is the north Cornwall, Padstow Bodmin , we used to have a static caravan in St Minver, just by wadebridge. The coast in that area is stunning.

Love Cornwall but such a pain to get to! Been a few years since we last went.

We have friends who live in Sennen......just a short walk away from Lands End. Hubby’s aunt and uncle had a B&B in Fowey so visited them a few times. Beautiful place.
