The 50 mile menu.

The 50 mile menu.

Apparently, sustainability and sourcing are the new buzzwords in food preparation, and the Intercontinental Hotel,Park Lane,London has introduced a new menu in its Cookbook Cafe restaurant, using ingredients sourced from within 50 miles. It does not quite pull it off though as it offers "Spratts from Folkestone"(65 miles), and "Cheese from Bath"(112 miles). Don't even ask about the coffee or chocolate.

There was once a pub in between Dewsbury and Mirfield, next to the then mucky river Calder, which offered local trout.
The stomach turned at the thought, especially as it was just downstream from the sewage works..... :(
