What was your longest cruise to date?

Postby Hannah » 27 Aug 2015 09:30

Our longest cruise lasted for 21 days plus extra 6 nights on shore. This was in 2014 on MSC Opera Southampton to Cape Town. Itinerary was Amsterdam, Le Havre, Bilbao, Lisbon, Funchal, Cape Verde, Namibia and Cape Town. We then had 6 nights in RSA travelling. What is your longest cruise and itinerary.

11 nights repositioning cruise from Kiel to Savona visiting Amsterdam, Dover, Cherbourg, Vigo, Lisbon, Cadiz and Malaga on Costa Pacifica with 1 night pre cruise.

Soon to be surpassed by a 12 nighter on MSC Opera and 1 night pre cruise from Genoa and visiting Gibraltar, Arrecife, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Funchal, Malaga, Palma, Civitavecchia and back to Genoa!

I don't think I would like to cruise longer than 16 - 20 nights!

On the other end of the spectrum, after having done a 2 nighter, I would not be interested in anything shorter than 4/5 nights!

Our longest cruise to date was 97 nights - a world cruise on Black Watch in 2009. It was a wonderful experience and we loved every single minute! :D

We chose that one mainly because we wanted to see Pacific islands and we called at seven, and Australia where I lived as a child.

Booked cruise 2019: December - Caribbean on Marella Explorer 2
Remaining land-based holidays 2019: July - Peak District, August - Harris and Highlands, October - Brecon Beacons

Our longest single cruise was when we sailed from Sydney to Los Angeles, across the Pacific, aboard the "Sapphire Princess" in 2008. We were on the ship for 31 nights (but only got 1 loyalty point in those days!).

In 2010 we did 3 back-to-back cruises aboard the "Rhapsody of the Seas" - 1) Sydney to New Zealand and back 2) Sydney to Tasmania and back 3) Sydney to Perth (anticlockwise). We were on that ship, in the same cabin, for 39 nights.

I don't think that Chris nor myself would wish to do another very long cruise again, we find that 2 weeks now is about right.

Caution: Do not paint or wallpaper your cabin on a long cruise - the crew get very cross!
Geoff

Booked cruise :-
"MSC Orchestra" - Cape Town to Venice 2020 (now virtual)

Yes Judy that was with 3 extra days in Lisbon, due to bad weather. Not a bad cruise and very good company.
