Poll: Which popular cruise lines have you experienced?

Postby arkangel » 31 Aug 2013 11:14

The aim of this poll is to get a profile of our members' experience of the popular major cruise lines.

As always when deciding which options to include, I'm very aware that some members will find the poll too limited. Therefore I've tried to cover myself by taking only cruise lines that have their own areas on the main forum index.

I hope members will understand that if I include one more cruise line just for them, then I would need to include all of the possible lines - and I'm bound to forget some. That's why I've entitled this poll: 'Which popular cruise lines have you experienced?' But I've included 'Other' for this very reason! ;)

Please feel free to expand upon your experiences below, and to mention other cruise lines you've tried... :)

Poll: Which popular cruise lines have you experienced?

Postby Dave » 31 Aug 2013 11:19

I've added my list and we've also been with Viking River Cruises a few times. Many years ago I experienced Sitmar Line and Orient Line so I'll count those under 'Other' as well! :)

But of course to confuse us the brand name Voyages of Discovery is still there but the ship they have now is called Voyager. I don't think C & M own Discovery, they have formed some sort of 'agreement' with All leisure, the Holding Company.

Ours are Saga, Fred, HAL, and others .

The others include Discovery , Page and Moy (now also swallowed by All Leisure ) Swan Hellenic in their original form and one or two others now defunct. Just remembered an early cruise with Carnival not ticked off.

MSC..................... probably my fovourite though :D :D :D
Royal Caribbean.......a very close second :D :D :D
NCL......................been once and would definiely go again
P&O..................... very unimpressed by them :( :( , but would not rule them out if the price/itinerary were worth a punt
Carnival.................a novel experience, but on both occassions the cruises were themed astronomical cruises, not sure what a "fun cruise" would be like
Airtours..................They were very good, shame they are now defunct
Grey Funnel line......not to be recommended

Poll: Which popular cruise lines have you experienced?

Royal Caribbean (x9)...............Ships are a bit big for us, but we love the Loyalty benefits
Fred. Olsen (x3).....................We like these smaller ships very much
Norwegian Cruise Line (x2).......We liked the variety of restaurants
Celebrity (x1, soon x2).............We loved the 'Cova Cafe' aboard the 'Zenith'.
Princess (x1)..........................We were annoyed that we only got 1 loyalty point for a 31 night cruise (the same as if we had done a 1 night cruise - in 2006 you got a point per cruise - it has since changed)!
Geoff

Booked cruise :-
"MSC Orchestra" - Cape Town to Venice 2020 (now virtual)
